round horse barn construction

Advantages Of A Round Barn On Your Property

Did you know that round barns are considered one of the most efficient barn styles? Evolving from early polygonal design, the round or octagon shaped barn was first built by the Shakers during the late 19th and early 20th century. The fascination with round barns continues today due to its many features and benefits.

This B&D Builders’ eight-stall horse barn was built using the old Hancock Shaker concept to improve efficiency and provide maximum ventilation using Dutch doors and large cupola in the center of the structure. Another benefit of the round style barn is it allows the horses to see each other, which creates a happy horse environment. In this case, we built a triple-barn design to allow horses to be safely quarantined, if needed.

The build process was part of a very intense one-and-a-half year process, which all started with creating a 3D virtual model based off the basic floor plan developed with the customer. The 3D model brings floor plans to life, allowing a realistic look at your project before construction even begins. Learn more about our process.
